My adventure starts at the Humpback Rocks Visitor Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
I encountered a Ranger on the porch of a cabin, which is part of an Appalachian mountain farm exhibit.
The Ranger talked about the influence of Scots-Irish settlers and played historical jigs and reels that form the foundation of Bluegrass and Country music.

I contemplated the next destination while under a tree on the way back to the car.

My favorite tree at Raven’s Roost Overlook in three perspectives. The first view of the tree from the parking area presents a wide, multi-poof of branches and needles. But as you walk around the tree from the rocks above, the branches visually converge and flatten into the form I call the uduforu tree. I use a reversed photo of the tree from 2012 as a mascot for my brand.

I admire the mildly hazy valley view of the west from the Raven’s Roost Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway before heading home.
The Canon 90D was my first fancy camera. When my photo subject interest expanded, the need for in-camera body stabilization led me to mirrorless camera madness. My newer cameras have more bells and whistles, but I still love the 90D. It was the perfect camera for me when I bought it, and its unforgiving nature remains a fantastic resource for learning and practicing. The pictures are nice, too.
I bought my 90D in 2021, and it has been neglected long enough.
In 2026, it is my main camera for casual outings.
